Like No Else

Preface
The first thing I noticed when I woke up was the agonising the hunger, it was strong, and could easily over power me. If there had been anyone in the small, dank, dark cell with me, I would have killed them in seconds draining them dry. My control was, however better than in previous years.
***
It was the coldest day in the year, and I was just about to leave for school. I had got up this morning to see a thick layer of snow lying calmly on the ground. I love the snow, but that wore off very fast, as I turned the key in the ignition. I backed out slowly, but even so, I could feel the control over the car slipping through my fingers. I drove very slowly to school. I was going about forty kilometres instead of my usual one-eighty. It really bothered me to go so slow, because I always loved to drive very fast. But not today, today I decided that I did not want to flip another car. It was always hard to explain how the car flipped, crashed and burned, while I remained unharmed. As I entered the school parking lot, I could tell I was very late. My inhumanly slow driving had put me about twenty minutes later than usual (which was about twenty minutes late for class). My teacher looked at me as I entered, but did not comment. I was never late for class, I usually just skipped. It was rare for me to actual show up for class, and he was not going to complain when I actually did just because I was late. I took my usual seat at the back of the room, and pretended I care that Marie Antoinette had spent so much money on jewels. Half of those jewels had been intended for me anyway, and just like that I was lost in an 18th century memory. Marie had been fun to play with, but on the 16th of October 1793 my hunger had gotten the better of me. Marie had tasted horrible. I hadn’t been sorry though. If I was sorry about every person I had ever killed, I would not be able to think. The list goes on forever.
The shrill sound of the bell succeeded in bringing me back to the present. As I walked to my second class, my stomach growled angrily, never a good sign. I was going to have to skip out at lunch break to go hunting.
